Since Dodecad posted nearest IBS (identity by state) neighbors, I have had requests to do the same for Harappa participants.
I have the data ready but I am not sure how to present it. I don't want to post an R object since I suspect most of you don't have it installed.
The idea is to give you a list of your closest IBS neighbors as well as your match percentage with them. How would you present that that for 90 people who might match any of several hundred (thousand?) reference samples too? Give me some ideas.
R is pretty easy to install, and it's totally free. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask people to do that.
I am still mulling it over. I can provide an R object in addition to some other way.
My computer skills are truly rudimentary and I had no trouble with the Dodecad IBS presentation.
you could have a script generate textfiles with the name being the HRP code, and just a list of reference individual IDs and IBS as a long list. zip all the text files together. if it's newlineed then you can import it in excel or whatever.
I don't know about the difficulty level, but a zoomable graph in Flash might be a good idea, where each node is connected to its neighbours? I might be asking for too much here! 🙂
No flash, sorry.
Yes, R is quite easy to install. Or for those who're finding it difficult to download, I or anyone else who has been successful in installing R could simply convey their results to them privately, or here in the comments.
