Here are their ethnic backgrounds and the results spreadsheet. Also relevant are the reference I admixture results.
In case you guys are wondering, the new thing here are the results fro HRP0031 to HRP0040.
PS. This was run using Admixture version 1.04.
More interesting participants, but a higher K would be more interesting, K9 and K12.
They are coming this weekend.
HRP0031 provided no information? That person is distinguished as the participant with the highest South Asian component so far, at least at this K value.
Until I get permission, I can't disclose it.
Perfectly understandable. I would not ask you to behave any differently.
cf. HRP0007 & HR0009 for similarity.
We can probably hazard a guess as to 31's ethnicity, though there's still some room for surprise i guess.
The fact that the new Bihari, HRP0032, looks so different from the other participants from the Indo-Gangetic plain indicates that there's a lot of North Indian diversity that we might be able to get a sense for if we had more participants from that region.
The weird thing is that despite looking around for a while, I can hardly find anyone from UP or Bihar on 23andMe. The personal genomics craze seems oddly biased geographically.

they're backward regions. if you're looking for wife-burners, they certainly do represent 🙂
The two Indo-Caribbeans are probably somewhat related to Biharis. It's said that at least 90% of Indo-Guyanese come from the Bhojpuri speaking areas of East UP/West Bihar.
Bihar and eastern UP are no doubt in dire straits, but there seems to be a paucity of participants from all over the Hindi belt including parts of old Punjab - Haryana & Himachal.

That seems quite likely. There so many South Indian Brahmins in this project, and I have 40 cousins on Relative Finder that I haven't contacted yet.
Well it fits the pattern , the largest diaspora of indians generally have south indian or punjabi origins. We're quite lucky we got some kashmiris and rajasthanis.
